ViTrade is a German broker that offers you a variety of financial products via a choice of professional trading platforms available for desktop, web, and mobile devices. I like how ViTrade has some advanced trading tools which can help with conducting detailed market analysis and therefore making informed decisions. I found the trading conditions to be quite competitive whilst they only require a small minimum deposit of just €1 if you wanted to try them out with minimal risk. Free demo accounts are also available but they do expire.

  • Professional trading platforms loaded with tools
  • Market insights via the Guidants platform
  • Small €1 minimum deposit to get started
  • Free demo accounts to test the brokers conditions
  • Limited account types and funding options
  • Educational materials in German only
  • Expiring demo account
  • No live chat support

Summary

ViTrade is an online brokerage firm that offers customers with an option to trade in multiple assets with individually tailored trading conditions. The company offers a trading platform HTX that allows cross-border trading in a total of 33 countries. They charge a flat fee of EUR 5.95 per order plus exchange fees. ViTrade GmbH is regulated by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and is a part of Fintech Group AG. I like that the broker has a choice of flexible trading platforms and individual tools for different trading styles and experience levels. ViTrade provides a personal and professional brokerage service where you can benefit from the broker’s longstanding experience in stock exchange trading – both on-floor, off-floor, and internationally.

Our #1 Broker 2023

AvaTrade is an award-winning and multi-regulated broker offering a great selection of trading instruments including Forex, Cryptos, Stocks and Commodities. You can trade on all of your devices via user-friendly platforms with excellent trading conditions and no commission fees.

Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.

Regulation

ViTrade is a flatex Bank AG company, which provides you with all banking services. flatex Bank AG is regulated by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Please see our flatex review for further information. Other regulatory agencies are the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). I would’ve liked to see them being regulated by at least one more tier-one body like other top brokers such as Saxo Bank.

Countries

ViTrade provides cross-border trading in a total of 33 countries. The broker mainly accepts clients from the EU zone. Clients from the USA and many other countries are not accepted. If your country is not accepted for whatever reason, I suggest checking out our broker comparison tool for some alternative options.

Platforms

HTX

ViTrade offers a high-performance, professional, and reliable trading platform known as HTX which gives direct stock exchange access and is geared entirely towards the needs of day traders and the most demanding of professional traders. I like how the HTX platform has a fully customizable, user-friendly interface that can easily be adapted to your requirements. This convenient platform has plenty of features and highly professional charting tools that enables you to conduct complex market analysis and react faster to market developments.

ViTrade HTX Platform

ViTrade HTX Platform

If you would like to engage in short-selling, the HTX platform can provide you with a rapid overview of intra-day and overnight short-selling options for individual securities. Upon request, the broker is able to give you trading lines of up to several times your equity for this purpose. The platform supports smart order types so that you can execute any strategy with speed. There are event-based order types, such as on-event, one-cancels-other/one-cancels-all, or even if-done orders. This way you can react to the markets and implement any trading strategy easily and conveniently with just a few mouse clicks.

You can trade with intelligent order types from wherever you are and whenever you want by using the free HTX mobile trading app for iOS devices. I also like how they provide you with a browser-based HTX WebTrader which can run in most modern web browsers without the need to download or install any additional software. This is handy if you need to access your account from someone elses device in the case of an emergancy.

Guidants

Guidants is an interactive platform that can offer you a professional overview of the market. The platform includes real-time market data, innovative evaluation tools, networking with other traders, and more. You can put together your own individual desktop and combine trading widgets into sets that interact with each other. I like how with Guidants, you can log directly into your ViTrade account to convert information directly into a trade. You can use Guidants to keep an eye on the stock market, follow and analyse DAX and stock prices, participate in discussions with professional traders and trade via connected brokers such as ViTrade. I would consider Guidants a platform for the more serious traders. If you are more of a causal trader, I think you may get on better with MetaTrader.

Guidants Platform

Guidants Platform

FIX API

The broker can support your automated trading with their API based on the standard FIX protocol and RTD connection via an MS Excel-based framework. I like how this HTX API allows for both the development and use of predefined software for trading in all investment classes offered.

Tools

There are plenty of trading tools already embedded within the powerful HTX and Guidants trading platforms. These tools are likely to be more than enough to meet the majority of your needs. You can create trading templates as complicated or simplistic as you need them to be with tools for all sorts of market analysis just a few clicks away. Though I have to admit, I would have liked to see some additional trading tools such as trading calculators, an economic calendar, and sentiment analysis being offered. If these tools are important for your trading, I suggest checking out FXFlat. They have some useful tools for you to get your teeth stuck into.

Education

Through ViTrade’s educational section, you can receive automatically generated market reports with the information that is most relevant to you. I like how the broker provides meaningful market analysis and additionally, clear and structured information from benchmarking. There are even webinars available and a trading academy. However, these are limited to the German language. You can check out Admirals for a wider variety of courses in more languages.

Markets

ViTrade provides you with an extensive range of tradable products including international stock exchanges. I like how this broker supports online trading with shares, certificates, bonds, ETFs, ETCs, futures, and warrants at all German floor-based stock exchanges, XETRA, and EUREX. 24 trading partners are available to trade online. Buy and hold trading is currently available at 13 international stock exchanges. This is a generous section to be fair although not quite on par with the likes of Degiro.

Accounts

You can trade on ViTrade from €5.95 per trade and benefit from direct stock exchange access, one-click trading, intra-day, and overnight short selling as well as a wide range of other features offered by the professional trading platform HTX.

I like how accounts and depots are held free of charge with the German bank flatex Bank AG. I also like how it is possible to hold accounts in foreign currencies which is beneficial as you may not be subject to currency conversion fees. This can make quite a substantial difference if you are moving large amounts between accounts.

ViTrade also offers you a free-of-charge demo account that expires after four weeks. The demo account can be a useful way for traders to try out the broker risk-free. You can practice your trading strategies using virtual funds and explore the features of the platform.

Support

Professional support is provided by the broker’s experienced team of exchange traders. You can have a direct and reliable contact partner on hand to assist you. ViTrade customer support is available on all trading days from 8:00 am to 10 pm via telephone and email. Though I would’ve liked to see them provide services on the weekend as well. If you prefer a broker with a 24/7 customer support team, I suggest checking out Trading 212.

You can also book a one-on-one online meeting with the support team. Although, I believe it would be beneficial if the broker could add a live chat option to their website as this can often be a quick and preferable way for potential clients to get answers to their questions. I know that it is certainly my prefer method of contact when reaching out to a broker.

Funding

Bank Wire Transfer is the only method available to ViTrade clients for both deposits and withdrawals. Generally, it takes between 3 to 7 bank working days for the whole process to complete. This is a limited choice when compared with other trading brokers who offer multiple account funding options including online payment processors for quick and convenient funding. If you would prefer a greater variety of payment options such as digital wallets, FXPRIMUS have a nice selection.

Conclusion

Overall, ViTrade is a decent online brokerage that offers relatively competitive trading conditions on an extensive range of trading products. I like that the broker is regulated and provides high-performance trading platforms with a good range of powerful trading tools to suit individual trading styles. They can also cater to both beginner and professional traders with all clients receiving a personal service from trained experts.

Despite this, I found the broker to be lacking in certain areas. I find that they do not have the lowest commissions that I have seen when compared to some of the best trading brokers. Furthermore, I’m not too keen on the fact that the account types and funding options are limited whereas educational materials and the account opening form are only available in German.

Personally, I feel they are more catered towards professional traders who are located in Germany and looking for bespoke services. The average retail trader may wish to look at our broker ratings for a more suitable alternative.
