IC Markets offers traders worldwide access to trade thousands of trading instruments across multiple markets on the most popular trading platforms, MetaTrader 4/5 and cTrader. Trading instruments include Forex, Commodities, Cryptocurrency, Stocks, Shares, Indices, Metals, Energies, Bonds & CFDs
The IC Markets management team come from a financial background with years of combined experience throughout Asia, Europe and North America. This experience means that being traders themselves, they have a strong understanding of what traders need and thus select the best possible solutions with some of the best hand-picked liquidity providers (LPs). New LPs are being added on a regular basis to ensure trading conditions continue to be amongst the best available to traders.
IC Markets are well known for low latency connectivity and superior liquidity. This means that online traders have access to deep liquidity pools for superior pricing that was only previously available to banks and high net worth individuals. Their ECN model uses the latest innovative technology, delivering low spreads and high liquidity for fast trade execution.
ECN technology allows IC Markets to aggregate all of its LPs to build an order book which can sort and rank prices in real time to provide the best prices to its clients. This creates competition amongst LPs to provide lower prices and to meet the modern-day trader demands of tight spreads, deep liquidity pools, price transparency and anonymous execution, low slippage and low latency.
The true ECN connectivity allows traders of all levels to trade on institutional grade liquidity from a diverse range of large LPs such as investment banks, hedge funds and dark pools venues. There are over 50 different LPs with no dealing desk intervention so traders have direct access to raw spreads and execution speeds with no price manipulation, re-quotes or hidden fees. This makes them one of best brokers of choice for high volume traders, day traders and scalpers.
IC Markets has an average execution speed of under 35ms with a low latency fibre optic cross-connect to LPs. The order matching engine located in the New York Equinix NY4 data centre processes over 500,000 trades for clients every day with a total US $15 billion trades processed daily by IC Markets. According to Finance Magnates, IC Markets is the largest forex broker in the world by forex volume (excluding Japan). They also provide a free low latency virtual private server (VPS) to clients.
IC Markets mission is to provide the best trading conditions so that clients can focus on their trading with full transparency. The companies core values are built upon integrity, trust, honesty and fairness. This is backed by their 9/10 rating on TrustPilot.

IC Markets does not process payments to third parties. You would need to ensure that all withdrawal requests from your trading account go to a bank account or a source in your name. Payments to joint bank accounts and credit cards are accepted if the trading account holder is one on the parties listed on the account or card.
What is IC Markets commission fee?
IC Markets do not charge a commission on Standard Accounts; instead, the broker adds a spread mark up to the prices received directly from their liquidity providers. The IC Markets’ Raw Spread Account shows the raw interbank spread received from these liquidity providers, without any mark up. On this account, they charge a commission of $3.5 per standard lot round turn.
This is advantageous because there are options to suit swing traders who want to save on commission fees in the long run whilst also providing an option for day traders whose trading strategies require a tight spread.
It should be noted that cTrader commission is charged per side, per 100,000 USD traded. This is different to MT4 which charges a fixed amount per lot. The commission charged on the cTrader platform is $3 USD per 100,000 USD traded. The USD commission amount is converted to the base currency of an account at the current spot rate.
Are there any IC Markets inactivity fees?
IC Markets do not charge an inactivity fee. Some brokers are known to help themselves to any funds left in your trading account should you take a break or just temporarily forget about them. You shouldn’t get any nasty surprises if you leave your IC Markets account dormant for a sustained period of time.
What are IC Markets account types?
IC Markets have a choice of two MetaTrader account types: Standard Account and the impressive Raw Spread Account. There is no commission charged on the standard account, just a small mark up on the spread they receive from their vast range of top-class liquidity providers. The raw spread account on the other hand, has a small commission fee of $3.5 per standard lot round turn. However, it uses the spreads directly from the liquidity providers without any mark up.
If you are not concerned about the spread cost, the standard account should suffice. If you want the tightest spreads possible and the best bid/ask price quotes, you may wish to consider the raw spread account.
Is there an IC Markets demo account?
Yes, IC Markets have a free to open demo account that supports all account types, platforms and products. A demo account allows you to trade the markets at no cost and risk free. This can be a great way to familiarise yourself with the trading platforms and practice your trading strategies in a simulated trading environment without fear of losing real money.
Once you’re familiar with the platform’s functionality and have a trading strategy that you are confident about, you can then look to open a live account with as little as $200.
It is important to note that trading with virtual money on a demo account can be a lot different from trading with real funds. The emotions involved that can impact trading decisions may not be the same whilst a demo account feed cannot replicate the re-quotes and slippage of a real account.
What are the IC Markets spreads?
IC Markets spreads are variable and amongst the lowest of all brokers across major and minor currency pairs. In particular, they have an average EURUSD spread of just 0.1 pips which is one of the lowest we have seen. Spreads can go as low as 0 pips on the raw account.
They are able to offer tight spreads in each of the trading platforms due to their mix of liquidity providers. IC Markets pricing consists of over 25 different liquidity providers ensuring spreads remain tight and liquidity deep 24/5.
What is IC Markets leverage?
IC Markets have flexible leverage options ranging from 1:1 to 1:500, depending on the entity that you register with. They offer a leverage of 1:30 for their European and Australian entities, with 1:500 for their global entity. You can change the leverage on your trading account via your Client Area. Leverage allows you to trade a position size greater than you would usually have been able to without it. This can increase potential gain but also increases risk. It is very important to make sure you have a clear understanding of what leverage is and the risks involved before you start trading with leveraged positions.
What are IC Markets margin & stop out levels?
IC Markets offer very reasonable margin rates as low as 0.2% on most FX pairs. IC Market’s stop-out level on MT4/MT5 and cTrader is 50%. This means if your equity dips beneath 50% of your used margin level, the platform will automatically liquidate the most unprofitable trades. So, if used margin is $1,000 and your account trades to $499.99 (49.9%), trades will begin to close. At this point you also have the option of depositing additional funds to increase your margin level.
Do IC Markets allow hedging, scalping, news trading & automated trading?
Yes, IC Markets do not have any restrictions on trading strategies. They have some of the best trading conditions when it comes to scalping and high frequency trading, allowing traders to execute orders between the spread as there is no minimum order distance and a freeze level of 0. This means orders including stop loss orders can be placed as close to the market price as you like. Due to their spreads and trading conditions, IC Markets are the preferred choice of many day traders and scalpers globally.
The IC Markets MetaTrader 4 and 5 trade servers have latency on average of less than 1 millisecond to major VPS providers either collocated in the NY4 data centre or through dedicated lines to nearby data centres. This low latency environment is ideal for automated and High Frequency Trading and scalping. Traders can also hedge positions as there is no first in first out (FIFO) rule with IC Markets.
