Equiti Review

Category: Reviews | Author: Trading Brokers | Date: November 17, 2022

Equiti is a regulated broker that provides you with user-friendly platforms for trading a wide range of financial instruments across different asset classes, such as forex, indices, shares and commodities. I like how they have multiple account options to choose from, with trading conditions to suit every type of trader. You can get access to the global markets with quick execution speeds, low spreads from just 0.0 pips and very competitive fees. The minimum deposit of $500 is not the cheapest you will find but you can choose from a good variety of funding options. I believe they are worth strong consideration for anyone looking to trade CFDs with minimal fuss. They have the technology to cater for retail, institutional and professional clients.

Summary

Equiti is an award-winning broker based out of Amman, the capital of Jordan. They are a pioneering fintech firm that provides you with innovative technology for trading on multi-asset financial products. You can get instant access to trade with a fully regulated broker on a good selection of 300+ products including CFD trading on Forex, Indices, Shares, Gold, Oil and more.

Trading Conditions

They offer trading products via a range of intuitive trading platforms and have a generous selection of trading tools to help with your market analysis. For beginners, there are some quality educational resources which can bring you up to speed with trading and investing online. In addition, Equiti has ECN accounts with zero spreads and a reasonable commission fee. There are no restrictions on your trading strategies. They welcome scalping, hedging and automated trading systems. Multiple payment options are available, whilst deposits and withdrawals are free of charge which is great. The minimum deposit is not the lowest although you can always open a free demo account to practice before making a financial commitment.

I like how the broker implements Non-Dealing Desk and ECN (Electronic Communication Network) execution as this means they aren’t taking the opposite side of the trade so there should be no conflict of interest. It also gives you direct market access without any broker intervention, which should mean you get your trades executed at the best available market prices with minimal slippage. They integrate with more than a dozen of the top liquidity providers, giving you tighter spreads and faster execution speeds. I much prefer this brokerage model over the market maker setup. Sophisticated order management options and advanced order types contribute to an enhanced trading experience.

Our #1 Broker 2023

AvaTrade is an award-winning and multi-regulated broker offering a great selection of trading instruments including Forex, Cryptos, Stocks and Commodities. You can trade on all of your devices via user-friendly platforms with excellent trading conditions and no commission fees.

Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.

Regulation

I am pleased to say that multiple government regulatory authorities regulate the broker. Moreover, they can provide you with negative balance protection, so that you don’t lose more than what you originally invested.

The six regulated entities within Equiti Group include:

  • Equiti Capital UK Ltd regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
  • Equiti Group Limited Jordan regulated and licensed by the Jordan Securities Commission (JSC)
  • EGM Futures DMCC regulated and licensed by UAE’s Security and Commodities Authority (SCA)
  • EGM Securities regulated and licensed by the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya (CMA)
  • Equiti Brokerage (Seychelles) regulated and licensed by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (FSA)
  • Equiti AM regulated and licensed by the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA)

This is very good regulation in my opinion, with some top-tier regulators. I personally wouldn’t have any problem trusting them with my funds and appreciate how you can choose which entity you would prefer to sign up with. Each will give you access to different trading products and features. It is worth noting that protection and rules may vary between regulators.

Countries

Equiti Group’s global footprint includes local offices in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific regions. However, they do not provide services to residents of some countries including the United States, Belgium, Canada and Singapore. If you are a resident of any of the restricted countries, please feel free to use our broker comparison tool to find an alternative.

Platforms

Equiti provides you with the industry standard MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms. Both platforms are excellent for beginners because of their simplicity and stable interface. They have all of the features built-in that you need to analyse charts, place and manage trades. I have been using MT4 for many years and never felt the need to switch to MT5. It does everything that I need it to and much more. Even though MT5 is an improvement on MT4 in terms of functionality, you will find that MT4 is provided by more brokers. This is something to consider should you wish to switch brokers down the line. You can get both MetaTrader platforms from some competitors, including FXDD.

MetaTrader Platforms

MetaTrader Platforms

You can trade from one account using the platforms on your computer, laptop and mobile devices. The desktop version has the most functionality, including automated trading if this is something you are looking for. I run multiple instances of the MT4 desktop platform so I can test brokers and my automated systems. The web platform is great if you need to access your account to trade from any device without installing any software. It is always up to date. The trading apps I really like as they make it quick and easy for me to check my positions and the latest market news whenever I feel like it. You will be able to open, close or monitor your trades with real-time charts and useful tools from the palm of your hand.

MetaTrader 4 (MT4)

MT4 is one of the leading trading platforms amongst forex and CFD traders due to its intuitive and user-friendly interface which is suited for both beginners and experienced traders alike. You can customise the platform to be as simplistic or complex as you need it to be, depending on your trading strategy. The platform was developed in 2005 by MetaQuotes, and provides all of the tools and resources that you need to analyse the markets for opportunities.

One of my favourite features of the platform are the expert advisors which I find are ideal for automating your strategies. There is a strategy tester where you can download data from the broker to back test your systems on historical data to get a rough idea on how they may have performed historically speaking. You can also run charts in a simulation mode to improve your trading skills.

MT4 has a huge online community of traders who are always sharing ideas and developing add-ons for the platform. You can use the built-in programming interface to develop your own tools and purchase many more from other developers in the MQL marketplace.

MT4 is available in desktop, web, and mobile versions. You can seamlessly switch between them depending on what is most convenient for you at the time. There are so many excellent features the platforms have that it would be impossible to cover them all in this review. I think it is a great choice for anyone looking to trade CFDs with lots of quality tools at your disposal.

MetaTrader 4

MetaTrader 4

MetaTrader 5 (MT5)

MT5 is a sophisticated platform and upgrade on its predecessor MT4. They do share a lot of similarities so if you can learn how to use one platform, I think you should be able to use both without any issues. As with MT4, you can use the MT5 platform on web, desktop and mobile.

The platform is totally customizable and includes some additional features for a more advanced trading experiences including depth of market (DOM) pricing that displays bids and asks for a particular instrument at the best prices.

There are more than 80 technical indicators, compared to around 50 in MT4, and you can open up to 100 charts at a time. It has 21 timeframes compared to just 9 in MT4. You can set price alerts to get notified when your targets are hit. This is great as it means you don’t need to stare at charts all day long.

I would say that MT5 is more of a multi-asset trading platform with lots of advanced features like multiple order types, additional timeframes, and a built-in economic calendar. On the other hand, if you just want to follow the markets and trade forex with some basic strategies, I think MT4 will do the job. Either way, both MetaTrader platforms can give you a great introduction to trading online.

Tools

Equiti does have some standalone trading tools in addition to the great selection that are already built into the MetaTrader platforms. The brokers in-house market research team and unique AI tools keep you up to speed on the market moves. When you join Equiti you can choose to start receiving daily trading reports by email or Telegram. This is something that I haven’t seen from many brokers which can be a convenient way to get inspiration for possible trade opportunities. You can check out insightful technical analysis reports and highly sophisticated chart-pattern recognition tools on both the Executive and Premiere accounts. They also have some handy trading calculators and an economic calendar which is ideal for fundamental analysis.

Education

There is a vast array of exceptional educational resources from a team of award-winning experts and analysts that can help give you the edge you need to be a successful trader. The comprehensive collections includes a dedicated learning academy, that is packed with content such as articles, trading guides, workshops, webinars, infographics, glossary, and publications; Blog, Newsroom, Press releases, an FAQ section, and more. I think there is a great selection that can help you to improve your knowledge of trading and the financial markets in general. It is always good to see a broker that cares about clients making informed trading decisions.

Markets

Equiti lets you trade a reasonable range of financial instruments across different asset classes including CFDs on forex, indices, commodities and shares. You will find all of the popular currency pairs, stocks of major companies and important commodities including gold and oil. I think there is enough to create a diversified portfolio but they could perhaps improve their product portfolio to include cryptos, bonds and ETFs. If you are looking for more choice, Freedom24 have a greater selection to choose from.

  • Currencies: Great selection of over 60 currency pairs, USD, GBP, EUR, CHF, JPY, AUD, NZD.
  • Indices: You can trade on global indices covering UK, US as well as all the main European and Asian indices.
  • Shares: Choose to trade from a nice selection of 300+ of the world’s most successful companies including Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Google and many more.
  • Commodities: Get instant access to buy and sell important commodities like oil, gold, silver, platinum and other exotic metals as well as coffee, cotton and other commodities.

Accounts

Equiti gives you a choice of two live trading account options. There is the “Executive” and “Premiere” accounts with required minimum deposits of $500 and $20,000 respectively. The Executive accounts have commission-free trading, but this is because there is a spread mark-up. Therefore, it has relatively higher spreads that start from 1.4 pips. On the other hand, you need a much bigger minimum deposit to trade with zero spreads on the Premiere account. This account has spreads from 0.0 pips which is great but there is a small commission fee of $7 per standard lot round turn on top of that. Generally speaking, I found the costs to be in line with what you can expect from most reputable brokers. You could probably shop around to save a little but I think this would only be worthwhile if you are trading in very large volumes. Otherwise, I personally think the difference will be negligible.

I use scalping strategies so would prefer the Premiere account. However, I think $20,000 is a high minimum deposit, especially for newcomers who may want to try Equiti services with a minimal investment. Many brokers have a much smaller $1 minimum deposit required to open an account, Trade Nation being one of them. That being said, there is the option of a demo practice account which can be a good way to see what the broker has to offer in a simulated trading environment. Just keep in mind, demo trading cannot account for things such as human emotions like fear, anger and greed. All of these can have an impact on your performance.

Support

The Equiti client support team is available 24/6 and can be contacted through telephone, email, Live Chat, and social media. With over 300 global specialists and customer service in 9 languages, they provide clients with access to individual, professional and institutional brokerage services across various affiliates and subsidiaries. I really like how they take a personalised approach with details of the founders including videos viewable on their website. This shows me that they are a transparent broker who operate with integrity. Whilst costs may be what some of you look for, these are also very important factors from my perspective.

Funding

Equiti accepts a good variety of payment methods for quick and easy account deposits and withdrawals. I like how they support digital wallets as I find this to be the most convenient way for me to move funds around between my trading accounts. It is also very fast which is important in case there is some market news that I want to try and take advantage of and need quick access to my funds. In this instance, I wouldn’t want to be waiting around days for a bank transfer to clear. However, I do think they could improve by adding support for crypto payments.

You can choose from the following:

  • Bank transfer
  • Credit/debit card
  • Digital wallets

Conclusion

Overall, there are many aspects of Equiti that I am impressed with. Primarily, I think it is great that they are regulated in multiple jurisdictions as this gives me peace of mind so that I can focus on my trading. The last thing you want to do is worry about the safety of your trading account.

You can trade CFDs in more than 60 currency pairs, shares, precious metals including Gold and Silver, plus 15 commodities and indices. With the MetaTrader platforms, you have access to Non-Dealing Desk execution with ECN technology and advanced risk management functionality. You are also provided with some quality trading and learning tools. These can be a good way to get an insight into the markets so that you can make informed decisions.

Despite the many positives, I think they can improve in terms of lowering the minimum deposit, increasing account options, and adding some more instruments. They could also integrate some third-party software such Trading Central and Autochartist to further enhance your analytical capabilities. You can get both these tools and similar trading conditions through GO Markets as an alternative option.
