Iker Casillas Becomes a Brand Ambassador for XTB

One of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, Iker Casillas, has been named the new brand ambassador for XTB. The collaboration between the publicly traded investment company and the former captain of the Spanish national team is the outcome of a long-term marketing plan carried out by XTB.

The broker announced this week’s hiring of a new brand ambassador, per a press release in Polish. Nevertheless, not all markets are now experiencing the campaign. For instance, information about it is available on the XTB website targeted towards Polish or Spanish retail dealers but not the international or UK version.

“I am extremely proud to be the face of a brand like XTB – one of the best global investment companies. In football, as in finance, you need training, good support and a winner’s mentality,” Iker Casillas commented in the press release.

Casillas, who appeared in more than 500 games for Real Madrid between 1999 and 2015 and was named the world’s best goalkeeper for five consecutive years by both FIFA and UEFA, makes an appearance in a new XTB commercial surrounded by investors. In the goalie-themed advertisement, XTB emphasises the importance of finding a reliable investing partner.

“XTB’s new ambassador has built his success through hard work and strategy, possessing a strong winner’s mentality to go with it. His ability to work as a team, his leadership and his professionalism at work are attributes we share at XTB,” Omar Arnaout, the CEO of XTB, added.

Iker Casillas has joined the brand ambassadors for a major global fintech company. Conor McGregor, a two-weight UFC champion, is one of the greatest names in sports joining forces with XTB. McGregor is the UFC fighter with the highest followers on social media, with over 70 million.

Other well-known martial artists who have become brand ambassadors include Ji Procházka, a Czech mixed martial artist and former UFC featherweight champion, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, a Polish martial artist and former UFC champion.

“When I was still a professional footballer, I made simple investments, usually listening to my advisors. After I retired, I became interested in more complex and innovative projects, such as the accelerator that helps some sports-related startups grow. I always say that there is a lot of talent in Spain that deserves a chance,” Casillas answered the question about his trading experience.

Former manager of Casillas, José Mourinho, previously served as an XTB brand ambassador. End of 2020 marked the date of contract signing for the selector.

In order to increase brand exposure, XTB is recognised for preferring to wager on well-known figures and names over sponsoring particular sports teams. A big-screen celebrity named Mads Mikkelsen took on the role of brand ambassador in 2016. Also, some individuals would recall XTB’s well-known involvement with Formula 1 in 2012 when the brokerage joined forces with the Vodafone Mercedes team.
